Too hot and buggy to go outside , but your little one keeps complaining how bored they are? Head right into the kitchen, grab a few items, and in no time you and your children will have inexpensive, homemade clay.
Ages: 1-6 (with parental help and supervision)
What You’ll Need: Large Bowl, 4 cups flour, 1 cup salt, 1 ¼ cups cold water, food coloring, mixing spoon
What to Do:
1. Pour 4 cups of flour into a large bowl (you can measure and let your child pour the flour into the bowl)
2. Add one cup of salt.
3. Add one and 1/4 cup of cold water a little bit at a time while stirring the mixture.
4. Take turns mixing!
5. Add food coloring. NOTE: Do not let children play with food coloring. To let your child participate, have him pick the color.
6. Get ready to create some clay characters!
