Beyonce stole the show at the 2011 MTV VMA’s when she announced that she and her husband, Jay-Z, were expecting their own rapper’s delight.
The singer, 29, might have hinted at what was to come when she told reporters before the show that she “had a surprise” for them, as she lovingly cupped her belly. When it came time for Beyonce to perform her hit song “Love on Top,” she started by saying “I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside of me.” After Beyonce performed the song, she unbuttoned her sparkly blazer and ecstatically revealed her baby bump. The camera then flashed to Jay-Z, who was standing next to Kanye West as he beamed from ear to ear. (watch the video here)
Beyonce has had to dodge pregnancy rumors since she married Jay-Z three years ago. Beyonce was quoted multiple times saying she would get pregnant before she turned 30, and guess what? The star turns 30 next month. The singer has been quoted as saying:
“I feel like a woman. I feel like I’m very aware of who I am. I feel great and I feel like 30 is the ideal age [to start a family], because you’re mature enough to know who you are and to have your boundaries and your standards, and not be afraid, too polite—but you’re young enough to be a young woman,” she said. “I’m so looking forward to it.”
There’s no word on when the baby is due, but it might delay Beyonce’s upcoming role in the Clint Eastwood film, a remake of A Star is Born. (in this case, a star REALLY WILL be born!)
