The Duggar family gathered in Springdale, Ark., today amongst friends and family to mourn the loss of their 20th child, Jubilee Shalom Duggar. Michelle Duggar, star of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting suffered a miscarriage earlier this month.
“I feel a great sorrow and grief, and yet at the same time I have a peace in my heart,” said Michelle. “This is so sad, but I have peace. There are people praying for us and angels surrounding our home, and there was peace in the sorrow and the grief. Those feelings are mingled together.”
The memorial service for Jubilee Duggar included photos of Michelle with the stillborn baby. TMZ obtained the photos, which you can view here. (caution: they might be disturbing)
Michelle Duggar, 45, was on a routine prenatal checkup for her 20th pregnancy when the doctor discovered there was no fetal heartbeat. Michelle Duggar miscarried the child 3 days later, the day after their youngest child Josie turned 2-years-old. Josie herself was born at 25 weeks and weighed only 1 lb.
Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, who are devout Christians and have said they plan to leave the decision for how many children they have “up to God,” are planning on resting and spending time with their family during this grieving process.
“We have so much to be thankful for,” Michelle says. “I know that in the days and weeks to come there will be other things that I will walk though, and grief that will come, and there will be times that we will worship and sing praises. I know that God will allow me to continue to release the emotions that I will release.”
