Michelle Duggar Suffers Miscarriage

At a routine checkup today to find out the sex of their 20th child, Michelle Duggar and husband Jim Bob Duggar received the painful news that there was no heartbeat. The doctor informed Michelle that she had suffered a miscarriage in her second trimester.

“We had just been talking about baby names last night and they were getting excited about naming a boy or a girl. It has been a real sad disappointment.”

Michelle Duggar,45, said they will select a name and hold a funeral service for the child.

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, who are stars on the TLC show 19 Kids and Counting, previously went through a traumatic pregnancy with their youngest daughter Josie, who was born December 2009. Michelle Duggar also experienced a miscarriage during her second pregnancy. At the time, Michelle Duggar believed it was caused by the oral birth control she was taking, which led the family to stop using contraceptives and leave the decision of how many children they would have “up to God.”

After the appointment, Michelle Duggar said they went home and told their children the terrible news today.

“I feel like my heart broke telling my children,” says Michelle Duggar. “They have all been so excited about this baby and looking forward to April coming around and having a new little one in our arms. That was the most difficult. The Lord is the giver of life and he can choose when that life is ready to go on and be with Him.”
