Make Your Own: Thanksgiving Place Cards

By Kerri Geringswald

Make your Thanksgiving extra special this year by adding a toddler touch!

What you’ll need:

Pinecones
Glue
Brown Pom Poms
Googly eyes
Red, Yellow, and orange construction paper

*Since this project involves small parts you will need to keep a close eye on your children and handle them while letting your child instruct where to add them.*

What to do:

-You can purchase pine cones from a store or take advantage of the fall weather and take your kids on a pine cone hunt. Use this time to talk about what you are thankful for.

Take the construction paper and draw the shape of 10 tails in pencil then cut along the lines.

-Use the larger end of the pinecone and glue on the feathers making sure to fan them out. Let dry.

-Draw a triangle shape for the nose and a curved shape for the ‘wattle’ using the red and yellow construction paper.

-Take the pom pom and glue the googly eyes, nose and wattle to create the face.

-Take a juice break while it dries…

-Glue the pom pom to the tip of the pinecone and wait for it to dry.

When it’s dry, place it on the Thanksgiving table with handmade place cards. Martha Stewart would be proud!
