Brooke Shields, 43, says her children have helped her reach a level of normalcy that she never felt before. “It took having a child, for me to feel like I belong…that I’m normal,” says Brooke, who is mom to 5 1/2-year-old Rowan, and 2 1/2-year-old Grier.
Brooke, who spends 14 hour days filming Lipstick Jungle in New York City, is determined to spend quality time with her kids despite her hectic schedule. ““They’re not going to remember Mom was tired. They’re going to remember I did the weather chart or story time at school. So you just do it. And you’re tired,” says Brooke, who is married to writer Chris Henchy. “It’s the mundane stuff that is important.”
As a former child star, Brooke has most likely seen her fair share of “bratty” kids, and says she’s determined to raise well-mannered girls.
“There are so few children I like. If you’re not polite, you can’t come to my house. Manners [represent] respect and kindness. I want people to like my kids, and if they’re bratty, they’ll have a harder time in life.”
