Undoubtedly, the addition of a new baby to the family is a joyful experience, but it can also be a messy one. And cleaning up all those messes can quickly become a strain on the nation’s already overstretched landfills. Bambooee, the maker of the tree-saving reusable bamboo towel, has just added three new products to its collection—Bambooee baby wipes, bibs and burp cloths—that are designed to make baby clean-ups kinder to the earth.

According to “The Recycler’s Handbook,” “the average baby generates a ton of garbage every year.” Much of that is a result of disposable diaper usage, but a surprisingly large portion comes from other sources, in particular baby wipes. Indeed, in 2005, the “Seattle Times” reported that “North American consumers bought nearly 83,000 tons of disposable wipes” in the previous year. By 2008, Euromonitor International revealed that “the global wipes sector” had grown by yet another seven percent. And sales for the product were “expected to reach the $2 billion mark by 2010.”

Putting those figures in quantifiable terms, the “Chicago Tribune” explained, “If someone were to load into 18-wheelers all of the disposable wipes bought … by consumers in North America, the caravan would number 9,000 trucks and stretch for 68 miles.” What’s more only 30 percent of those earth-clogging wipes are used for home cleaning purposes. Another large chunk goes toward tidying up baby messes.

Bambooee believes that tending to infant messes should be as gentle on the earth as it is on baby. To that end, the company has extended its reusable bamboo towelette concept into a baby line that includes bibs, burp cloths, baby wipes and a Baby Bonanza collection of all three items. Each of these new Bambooee products is rayon made from 100 percent organic bamboo and features the softness, absorbency and machine washable reusability that has made the original Bambooee towelettes such a hit among earth-conscious individuals.

Stronger and more durable than any paper towel or baby wipe on the market, Bambooee stands up to even the dirtiest of baby faces or infant mishaps. And because the bibs, burp cloths and wipes can be tossed in the washer and used over and over again, they reduce waste, thereby helping reduce the carbon footprint.
