Many moms spend much of their time taking care of others. Moms often find themselves playing chauffer, concierge, chef or even maid, serving the needs of their families. So, it makes sense that when moms decide to pursue higher education, they want a university that will cater to their needs and interests.

In fact, according to a recent poll conducted by Ashford University, more than 80% of moms think an online higher-education degree program is better tailored to their interests and needs than a campus higher-education degree program.

Following are some additional statistics from the survey:

  • If they had to choose tomorrow, more than 70% of parents said they would choose to pursue a degree at an online college or university.
  • 60% of stay-at-home moms say they would prefer to wear their pajamas over jeans and t-shirts or exercise clothes or even sweats.
  • 60% of adults between the ages of 35 and 48 believe online degree programs provide a more realistic learning environment that mimics today’s modern work culture.

These findings are the result of a national consumer poll conducted online by Penn Schoen Berland in June 2012 on behalf of Ashford University. The survey targeted 1,000 respondents between the ages of 26 and 48 who were considering enrolling in a higher-education institute in the next two years to gain insights regarding their motivations and barriers relating to higher education.
