10 Best Moms on Twitter

By Lyz Lenz

Once my mom asked me what I do on Twitter and I told her, “I get parenting advice!” From restaurant etiquette to how much to pay the sitter, my Twitter moms have never steered me wrong. Unlike Facebook, which is stalked by your mom and is a little too close for comfort to your creepy uncle, Twitter is a fun supportive space for moms to reach out, share and connect.  Or at least it will become that if you follow these 10 Twitter moms. While they may not (always) be blog-famous or high profile, these moms all share one thing in comment, they Tweet well, they share, they connect and they laugh. And really, what more can you want from the internet?

@jennawrites
Jenna McCarthy is hilarious and she ought to be, she makes a hard-earned living out of it. With books and articles galore, you would think she’d be too busy to tweet.  You’d be wrong. She tweets gems like this: “Huge fight with husband, got to Costco and had NO CARD… cap it off with a mammogram and pelvic ultrasound. Yay for this day! #NOT”

@triciagoyer
Former teen mom turned homeschooling novelist Tricia Goyer is a fascinating person and good thing she Tweets, because frankly, we’re just a little addicted. Follow her for writing news and the regular doldrums of mommy life, but more fascinating because it’s Tricia Goyer.

@CarlaYoung
Want to talk about more than just mom stuff? Carla Young is self-described, “/ WAHM, Founder & Publisher of MOMeoMagazine.com & EntrepreneurialMoms.com | Bargain Hunter, Shopping Diva, Book Collector & Outdoor Fanatic.” And if you think that is impressive, check out her tweets!

@lifeasaSAHM
This army wife describes herself as a “crunchy mom” and that doesn’t always refer to the number of cheerios in her car seats. Fun, down to earth, but not afraid to be honest.  Diana is a must-follow. Also, she blogs!

@Freesamplemomma
Everyone loves free stuff, ergo, everyone should love Di. She describes herself as “a…Freebie Luvin Momma who Tweets ALOT! I’m also a Brand Ambassador, Social Media Addict & Review Maven.” And she does tweet a lot! But it’s a lot of good stuff like deals, coupons and more. We all win!

@TodaysMoms
Alicia Yarboro and Mary Ann Zoellner are the brains behind this Twitter feed. They make the “Today” show happen and contribute to TODAY Moms. Follow them for great articles and news on the cutting edge of mommyhood. Did you even know there was such a thing?

@wiredmom
I wanted to keep this list mostly people, but I have to include @wiredmom because I click on almost every single link they send out. Whether it’s blog posts from The New York Times “Motherlode” column or links to interesting Yahoo Answers threads, @wiredmom will keep your Tweets on their feet.

@sugarjones
Busy and hilarious, Sugar Jones is a smart, savvy mom who knows how to Tweet.  She’s pretty fancy and pretty blogfamous. But she tweets back, which kinda makes us want to swoon. @SugarJones is a must follow.

@bebehblog
Describes herself as, “I’m a blogger, a baker, a cute baby maker. Mom to an adorable red-headed terror born 4-5-09 and a sweet baby girl born 12-19-10. I mention my boobs a lot.” What’s not to love? She blogs, too.

@heatheroftheeo
Heather has a blog that might be the most heart-achingly beautiful thing you’ve ever read. And her tweets, well those are even more swell—fun pictures of her kiddos, retweets of other great moms, links to the scuttlebutt in the mommyverse and great conversation.  This mom actually replies and when she does you’ll love her as much as we do.

Are you on Twitter? Leave us your handle and we’ll follow you!
