After a long nine months of excitement, your baby is finally here!  It is soon realized that your life-changing experience has also left you with some unpleasant surprises (added weight, saggy skin, and stretch marks—just to name a few).  Many women are faced with a common dilemma: pre-baby clothes are too tight and maternity clothes are too loose.  What to do?

Luckily, Julie Scorsese, via C Department Manager of Women’s Designer Apparel at Nordstrom’s, has sat down with New Parent to offer five smart suggestions that will compliment those post-baby bodies.  “Not only are these pieces stylish and comfortable, but they will reinforce some of that pre-baby body confidence” she says.

Find some inspiration, or click the links provided to pick up one of these chic designer steals.  (Have we mentioned that they are all on sale?)…

Adrianna Papell Lace and Chiffon Shift Dress

This Adrianna Papell lace and chiffon combo dress is great for any post-baby body. The intricate lace overlay on this shift dress masks any imperfection you may have in or around the tummy area. This piece also offers an airy chiffon sleeve to leave you feeling cool.  The exposed zipper adds an edgy twist, allowing Mommy to feel like herself again.

Available only in Black in petite, regular and plus sizing (Petite Focus, Dresses and Encore Departments).

Maggy London Cowl Neck Shirtdress

Talk about effortless fashion!  This Maggy London look gives every new Mom what she needs: the perfect thrown-on-and-go dress.  This no-fuss cowl neck throw over shirtdress also provides an airy feel with the textured gauze fabric. Although this tie belt is removable, it really allows our new mommy to show her shape while still feeling comfortable. The tabbed sleeves and partial collar neckline on this Maggy London dress gives her a hint of sophistication, in covering the upper arms.

Available only in Aqua in petite and regular sizing (Petite Focus and Dresses Departments).

Anne Klein Washed Satin Shirtdress

“This Anne Klein shirt dress does all the right things for a post-baby body. Again, with the ease and effortlessness of the throw-over, this dress is a very practical staple our new mommy needs in her wardrobe. The super-soft satin material is equipped with functional drawstrings that lightly cinch the waist that, yes…she still does have!  Wear it as a daytime look, paired with metallic sandals, or transition it into date night with your hubby and throw on a pair of wedges, gold bangles and a statement necklace.

Available in Blush color and regular sizing (Narrative Department).

Donna Ricco Bloused Sleeve Faux Wrap Dress

Hitting all angles of flattery, this Donna Ricco dress is a home run! The deep V-Neck detail takes the focus off the mid-section, as the faux wrap still allows our new mom to show off her waistline, without feeling restricted. The comfortable jersey fabric in this dress creates fluidity and ease, embracing but not hugging the hip area. The three-quarter bishop sleeve on this Donna Ricco dress adds subtle drama to the simplicity of this look, and covers up the upper arms.

Available in Black, Blue Jay, Plum and Twilight in regular sizing (Dresses Department).

Caslon Button Shoulder Jersey Dress

Nordstrom’s own label, Caslon is a line that targets each of our very different customers. Offering different fashions for every woman, our new Mommies are no exception! This Caslon Jersey Dress is an easy throw-over that no new Mom should overlook. Offering a bloused bodice, this elastic smocked waist dress gives her the opportunity to show off her waist with confidence. The gathered skirt allows the fabric to flow in a way that creates comfort and ease. Wear alone or pair it with structured black blazer so you can bounce right back into your everyday routine.

Available in rich Blue Saxony (pictured), Purple Magenta, Black and two printed options, Brown Earth Combo and Navy Peacoat combo. Offered in petite and regular sizing. (Petite Focus and Point of View Departments).
